Accor and Mars restructure pet friendly policy in 300 hotels throughout Brazil

São Paulo, September 20, 2021 - Pets are no longer just companionship for families, they are part of the families. For this reason, ALL - Accor Live Limitless and Mars Petcare have teamed up to expand a pet friendly offer in over 300 of the company's hotels throughout Brazil based on a new policy. A partnership is part of the Best Cities for Pets program, led by Mars Petcare.

“Pets are a fundamental part of our lives and our customers’, that's why we joined Mars Petcare, which brings all its experience in pet care, to advance in this new phase”, says Roberta Vernaglia, Vice President of Marketing and Digital Strategy Accor South America.

Aligned with the purpose of building a Better World for Pets, Mars Petcare seeks to enable even closer interaction between people and pets so that they can enjoy more the benefits of this relationship. The program also directly contributes to the company's commitment to ending pet homelessness and operates on four pillars - Homes, Shelters, Businesses and Parks - providing assessment tools and support materials for cities and establishments that wish to become pet friendly.

“The role of pets in our lives has been increasing. And we see this not only because of the growing number of adoptions, but because we understand that people are giving new meaning to their relationship with pets. Mars Petcare truly believes in transforming people's behavior by sharing more experiences with their pets. That's why the program is so important to fulfill our purpose – A Better World for Pets – in Brazil. We want to build environments where pets and tutors are happy and welcome,” says Sheila Guebara, Corporate Affairs Director at Mars Petcare.

Accor and Mars restructure pet friendly policy in 300 hotels throughout Brazil

The new pet friendly policy applied to Accor hotels was implemented based on consultations and assessments carried out by the Mars Petcare team and by the Pet Friendly University, in some of the chain's main units, thinking about the journey of the family that stays with a pet and always aiming for more comfort and convenience. Some highlights of the new implementation are the acceptance of cats as well, identification of all pet friendly areas in hotel communications and preparation of employees for receptiveness to the pet and their families.

The pets accommodated in the chain's hotels will receive a welcome kit – with a pillow/bed pee pad and water bowl – to be used only during the stay, and it is possible to take it home for a price determined by each unit of the chain. In addition, the brands will present pets to customers with a 50% discount on the pet fee during the month of September, in addition, all ALL - Accor Live Limitless members will receive a 15% discount coupon for purchases at the Marketplace store. Mars Petcare.

For the launch, eight units in the cities of São Paulo, Itu, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Curitiba were designated as flagships and, in addition to the actions mentioned above, PEDIGREE®, WHISKAS®, CESAR brand snack kits and sachets will also be offered  SHEBA® and DREAMIES™ - all from the Mars Petcare portfolio in Brazil. The hotel chain includes: Pullman Guarulhos, Mercure Times Square and Adagio Moema, Novotel Itu, ibis Curitiba Santa Felicidade, Novotel Leme, ibis Budget Rio de Janeiro Botafogo, Fairmont, MGallery Santa Teresa and ibis Recife Boa Viagem.

Some units are also preparing to make pets welcome, including at mealtime and leisure time, as is the case at Novotel Itu Golf & Resort, which will feature a complete Mars pet friendly space by the pool, and the Pullman Guarulhos which already has a Pet Park.
